Chinese Researchers Claim That They Have Broken Modern Encryption

Chinese researchers affiliated with several prestigious universities across China published a scientific paper in December claiming that they have successfully broken standard RSA encryption standards using EXISTING quantum algorithms.  Why should we be concerned?  Whether this claim can be acted upon right now or not, it should serve as a strong indication that the threat of quantum computing is not something that is decades or even years away but is something that is already here. Whenever that happens, no one’s data is safe.  The path forward seems crystal clear. Now is the time to start pursuing quantum resistant solutions.  It is indeed no coincidence that during that same month, U.S. President Biden signed the Quantum Preparedness Act into law.
