Our CEO at CEEDPA 2025: Championing Quantum-Safe Data Protection
We are proud to share that Dr. Mirek Sopek, CEO of Quantum Blockchains and Chairman of University Council at Lodz University of Technology, participated in the prestigious International Conference on Quantum Technology: Threats, Challenges and Opportunities for Cybersecurity and Data Protection, held in Cracow, Poland on June 12, 2025. This event was part of the 23rd Meeting of the Central and Eastern Europe Data Protection Authorities (CEEDPA).
Held at the historic Larisch Palace of Jagiellonian University, the conference brought together leading scientists, policymakers, and cybersecurity experts to explore the profound implications of quantum technologies for the future of data protection and privacy.
Dr. Sopek contributed as a key panelist in Panel Session IV: Developments in Quantum and Post-Quantum Cryptography, alongside experts from the Polish military cyber command and leading technical universities. His intervention emphasized the urgent need to adopt quantum-safe protocols in order to future-proof our digital infrastructures against the cryptanalytic capabilities of quantum computers.
“Quantum computing is not a distant threat—it’s a present challenge for any serious data protection strategy,” said Dr. Sopek during the session. “The transition to post-quantum cryptography is not optional if we want to maintain confidentiality and trust in a post-quantum world.”
Dr. Sopek showcased the ongoing work of Quantum Blockchains in developing advanced cryptographic solutions, including emulated QKD (Quantum Key Distribution) protocols, and their application to secure digital identity and blockchain integrity.
As quantum technologies continue to evolve at a rapid pace, this conference reinforced the critical role of cross-sector collaboration—from academia and government to business and standards bodies—in ensuring that cybersecurity and data protection remain resilient and forward-looking.
